'It'll be over by Feb 5th' --Hillary Clinton (and McAuliffe)

Brief response to this post.

Hillary Clinton on This Week - 12/30/07

'It'll be over by Feb 5th': @ 7m:10s

And,

"This thing will be over on Feb. 5," campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe assured reporters the day after Clinton's third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses. California, New York, New Jersey and other big Feb. 5 states were "Clinton Country," the thinking went.

by alright on Sat May 03, 2008 at 05:52:12 PM EST

Lot's of people thought HRC'd win in a landslide (none / 0)

And look at what happened: Obama will clinch a pledged delegate victory by 5/20.

Obama has already won. (none / 0)

No crystal ball needed.

Obama needs only 134 PDs to clinch (none / 0)

a pledged delegate victory (not counting in Guam). see sidebar

Through 5/20, there are 322 PDs to be had (4 + 72 + 115 + 28 + 51 + 52 = 322) including Guam.

Therefore, in order to Clinton the PD victory, he needs only 41.6%  of the PDs from Guam, IN, NC, WV, KY, OR combined, which he'll almost certainly secure.

The point is to taunt (2.00 / 1)

the posters here with something provocative and negative about Hillary Clinton.

It's the only way some people know how to interact.

Re: The point is to taunt (2.00 / 0)

It's very immature.

If Clinton and McAuliffe's own words (none / 0)

are "provocative and negative about Hillary Clinton" (since the diary purely quotes their words), then I don't know what else to tell you.

Re: If Clinton and McAuliffe's own words (none / 0)

to what point? is there some law they broke in not having their prediction come to pass? will you do the same to every prediction BHO has made? sorry, that question assumed you were honest, from your diary and your replies that does not apply.

Re: 'It'll be over on Feb (none / 0)

We were told the Iraq war would be over quickly too. This is what Senator Clinton and our President share. Poor judgment.

A diary? (2.00 / 0)

This qualifies as a comment, since it's 1 line of your own text (specifically about 4 words) and calls out another diary.

Can't you guys come up with your own ideas for diaries?

Then your diary qualifies for a comment as well. (1.75 / 4)

can you read? (2.00 / 0)

No, read it again.  It has entire paragraphs that I wrote, and the idea for the diary was mine.

You should refresh your memory with the myDD guidelines, which prohibit 1-line diaries and calling out other diarists.

Excuse me but even OBAMA said it will be over by 2/5. So, your point is mute.

has shown him to be superior according to the math
and oh yea the rules.

question (none / 0)

I always wondered one thing.

Do you think that the Clinton campaign just didn't understand proportional representation of delegates?

The campaign just seems so unprofessional and unprepared. I would understand her making this comment during the summer of '07. At least at this time she was clearly the frontrunner and the media story was of the Clinton juggernaut ready to flatten anyone in its path. But by the end of December, if my memory is right, the contest was a dead heat - with Edwards still in the middle of the pack!

by highgrade on Sat May 03, 2008 at 06:28:38 PM EST

Re: 'It'll be over by Feb 5th' --Hillary Clinton ( (none / 0)

maybe its because they didn't expect the Obama campaign to smear the Clintons, play the race card, and give that as the only reason for to vote for him, because of the big bad evil Clintons. If this were on issues, or were winner take all, Hillary would be the nod already

winner take all, eh?

It sound like you want Hillary to run in a Republican Primary.

"Obama campaign to smear the Clintons"

It's Hillary Clinton and her campaign that smeared Obama in various ways.

play the race card,

it's the Clinton camp that race-baited repeatedly.

Re: 'It'll be over by Feb 5th' --Hillary Clinton ( (2.00 / 1)

I think the real question is this: why didn't Hillary want everyone to vote?  I thought that was the most important thing.  Why was she trying to hard to push everyone else out of the race?

No way. No how. No McCain.
